Upon completion of the programme, students will be awarded the New Zealand Certificate in Workplace Health and Safety Practice (Level 4). Developed for anyone planning to pursue a role with a health and safety function, this program shall cater to learners and provide the apt environment and opportunity for learning outcomes backed by evidence required to pass all required units.
ACTS shall discuss requirements and the scope of the program with the learner to communicate expectations and prerequisites needed to increase the learner’s success rate. This process is done prior to official enrolment.
Learners are required to demonstrate adequate skills – both literacy and numeracy, and/or have a relevant industry experience or completed the New Zealand Certificate in Workplace Health and Safety Practice (Level 3).
The programme aims to instil knowledge and practical skills so learners are trained to identify hazards in the workplace and be able to apply precautionary measures and further promote health and safety practices, procedures, and initiatives. Another aspect of the course is to hone into the learners’ communication skills which would allow them to apply critical thinking and be solutions-oriented professionals.
Gaining an on-site and hands-on experience to better prepare learners for the profession, they will be able to work alongside apprentices, and junior and top level executives in the workplace. This opportunity shall give learners a more defined understanding of the responsibility that the role entails which is critical to effectively fulfil the health and safety facet of any role in any given workplace.
